DFCD at EDD: Let's talk Blended Finance

The Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) consortium partners will join in the climate discussions at the upcoming European Development Days (EDD) which will take place on 15 and 16 June.

The 14th edition of this annual event organised by the European Commission is usually held in Brussels. However, this year due to COVID restrictions the event will take place virtually.

The theme of this year’s event is a Green Deal for a Sustainable Future. Biodiversity loss, climate change and environmental degradation are defining challenges of our generation and require more coordinated and incisive international efforts. EDD will provide a decisive moment for analysis and reflection on the road to COP26 in November 2021.

During the event, The DFCD will host a lab debate session that will take place under the theme – a Green Economy for People and Nature.

Lab debate – Using blended finance to mobilise capital for the .8 tn adaptation opportunity.

Date: 15 June
Where: TV Studio 2
Time: 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm

Climate change poses an unprecedented threat to humanity in the 21st century and communities in the developing world are most at risk to be affected.

During this debate, the DFCD partners SNV, FMO, and WWF along with PT Indobamboo Lestari, an Indonesian bamboo “laminate” producer, will discuss how partnerships can be created that steer capital towards climate adaptation projects. In turn, this will strengthen the climate resilience of vulnerable populations and ecosystems.

This interactive session aims to inspire the creation of partnerships that mobilise investments for climate adaptation, using the DFCD as a case study for public-private sector collaboration.
